Commercial Roofing

Most commercial, industrial, and apartment buildings have flat or slightly sloping roofs. Some roofers work on both types; others specialize.  Most flat roofs are covered with several layers of material called plies. An increasing number of flat roofs are covered with a single-ply membrane of waterproof rubber or thermoplastic compounds. Large rolls are rolled out overlapping each other. Adhesives or mechanical fasteners are used to secure the roofing material to the decking. While choosing a durable roofing material is important, the most important thing to a long lasting roof is proper drainage off the roof. Even the most expensive roof will eventually fail if water is allowed to pool or pond. Pooling is caused by low spots on a roof that can’t properly shed water. This condition eventually leads to premature deterioration to that area.
